Where are Baldur’s Gate 3 save files located?

Baldur’s Gate 3 save files are stored in a hidden folder called AppData, which is located on your Windows install drive, usually C:. To access it, you must enable the option to show hidden items in the File Explorer. To do that, open the File Explorer, click the View tab, and check the box next to Hidden Items.

Once you’ve done that, you can navigate to the following path:

C:\Users[username]\AppData\Local\Larian Studios\Baldur’s Gate 3\PlayerProfiles\Public\Savegames\Story

In that folder, you’ll see several subfolders that correspond to different save states. Each subfolder contains a file called metadata.lsf and a Savegame folder. The metadata.lsf file contains information about the save state, such as the date, time, location, and party members. The Savegame folder contains the actual data of the save state, such as the character attributes, inventory, quests, and world state.

How to back up, transfer, or share your Baldur’s Gate 3 save files?
